Hello and Welcome!

I'm so glad you've taken the time to seek out counselling and hope I'm able to be a part of your journey. I am a Certified IFS Therapist and Canadian Certified Counsellor with a MA in Counselling Psychology and currently offer virtual counselling across Canada.

Over the past 14 years as a therapist, I've seen how often we feel alone in our trauma and pain. We may feel overwhelming emotions that we'd rather push away and can feel like we have to manage what we feel, rather than live in authentic expression internally and with others. My hope is to give you a space where you feel safe enough to learn to be with what hasn't been seen inside. Where you can feel seen, connected to and experience transformation in how you show up for yourself and with others.

A Bit About Me...

I have always been drawn to understanding the deeper workings of the human mind and naturally gravitate towards healing spaces for others. I came into the counselling profession through my own personal experience of complex trauma and wanting to help others experience relief from and connection in these experiences. Through this I found a natural fit in holding space for others to authentically show up and explore the deepest parts of themselves.

I am drawn to working with people struggling with trauma (personal and intergenerational), PTSD, anxiety, chronic pain, body image, and self-esteem. I love learning and have spent a lot of time exploring effective ways to work in these areas. I am a highly sensitive person and believe that this is part of what allows me to have deep empathy and resonance with my clients. Everything I use with my clients I have also experienced myself.  I have an interest in spirituality and enjoy integrating this into therapy sessions when desired.

How I work

My approach is trauma-informed, intuitive and integrative. While I work from an IFS framework, I incorporate somatic work, attachment theory and at times EMDR. When working with chronic pain I will often use Pain Reprocessing Therapy alongside IFS.

Others typically describe me as a warm, compassionate presence that allows them to experience the safety and confidence needed to do the deeper inner work. I believe in the importance of continuing my own growth through counselling, introspection, and education which allows me to continue to work through my own biases and provide a safe space to my clients.

Throughout my own healing journey, I've felt the frustration and hopelessness that can come out of feeling stuck in pain and anxiety. I have also experienced the great potential for healing and growth, even through the most painful life experiences. My hope is to help you find this healing potential within you, which I believe comes from a place of confidence, curiosity and compassion inside. I've found this to be available to each and every person. I will support you to find this inside of you through a caring, supportive therapeutic relationship, backed by many years of intensive training in various therapeutic modalities.

Outside the Therapy Room

When I'm not holding space for clients I enjoy spending time in nature, connecting with my two little ones and partner, gardening, yoga, learning, and expressing myself creatively.

Consultation

If you're a therapist or practitioner looking at deepening your therapeutic work through an IFS perspective I also offer IFS consultation. I have advanced knowledge working with complex and acute trauma, intergenerational trauma and attachment injury through IFS and somatic based counselling approaches.
