Welcome! I’m glad you’re here. As a therapist I see my role as helping people to get unstuck from painful patterns that are holding them back from the peace and joy they deserve. I know the prospect of therapy can be daunting, especially for people who find it difficult to trust or be vulnerable. So, we go at a pace that feels ok for you; I endeavour to be warm, respectful, collaborative, sensitive and caring in my practice.
Since each client is unique, we will work together to create a path that feels like a good fit for you. Therapy is not a one size fits all approach and it’s important that clients feel a sense of control over the process. Your safety and security in the therapeutic relationship is extremely important.
To the collaborative process I bring over 5 years of clinical therapy work, over 11 years of social service work, a Masters in Clinical Social Work from the University of British Columbia, and lived experience of the messiness of life.
I take an attachment- and interpersonal neurobiology-based perspective of human problems. This means I understand a variety of issues as stemming from relational experiences that have deeply impacted the way people see and navigate the world, all of which is related to and rooted in brain and nervous system functioning.
Clients typically come to see me because they are struggling in relationships, experiencing low mood, pervasive irritability, or anger, and they are overwhelmed with anxiety. I specialize in treatment of complex PTSD, developmental trauma, and intergenerational trauma and I am trained in basic and advanced applications of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
I take a holistic approach to wellness, and hold space for all my clients’ belief systems. I believe culture is medicine. I believe nature is medicine. I believe healthy relationships are medicine. And I believe in healing.
I would be honoured to help you tap into your healing potential.
